Two talented lightweight strikers will take to the Octagon on March 24 when the UFC hits Montreal for UFC 145, as a bout between Anthony Njokuani and John Makdessi has been signed for the show with each man looking to bounce back from defeat and no doubt do so in impressive fashion. The two have racked up a total of 15 strike-based stoppages in 23 total victories.
Confirmation of the match-up was provided via the UFC’s website.
Njokuani made a name for himself in WEC before transitioning over to the UFC in early 2011 where he fell in an exciting decision loss to unbeaten Edson Barboza. The Muay Thai specialist quickly got back on the winning track, taking out TUF finalist Andre Winner before losing a hotly-contested clash against Danny Castillo at UFC 141. He holds an overall record of 14-6 with past wins over Chris Horodecki, Muhsin Corbbrey, and Bart Palaszewski.

While Makdessi hasn’t taken out as many recognizable fighters he’s certainly impressed in the UFC with a 2-1 record including a memorable Spinning Backfist knockout of Kyle Watson last April. His last fight came at UFC 140 in December where he was submitted by seasoned veteran Dennis Hallman, the first loss of the 26-year old’s young career.
UFC 145 has no headlining bout yet but features a number of solid scraps including Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills, Matt Wiman vs. Mark Bocek, and Ben Rothwell vs. Brendan Schaub.
