Luke Rockhold possibly out six months with injured hand

Moments after stopping veteran competitor Keith Jardine at this past weekend’s Strikeforce event, middleweight champion Luke Rockhold was asked who he hoped his next opponent would be. Rockhold went on to explain he wanted to face one of the UFC’s middleweights in hopes of testing himself against a “Top 10” adversary. While it’s unknown whether or not he’ll get his wish, one thing is certain – Rockhold’s next appearance in the cage may not take place until summertime depending on how severe an undisclosed injury to his right hand is.

Rockhold’s name was among four fighters from the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine lineup listed on the NSAC’s list of medical suspensions with a July date attached to their possible recovery time. While nothing specific was mentioned as far as what might have happened to his hand, some light was left at the end of the tunnel as Rockhold can be cleared by a doctor at an earlier time.
