Daniel Roberts vs. Claude Patrick targeted for UFC 129

Budding welterweight prospect Daniel Roberts will be looking for his fourth-straight win inside the octagon when he returns in just a few months for UFC 129.
The pay-per-view event is scheduled to take place on April 30 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The card in of itself will mark the first sanctioned mixed martial arts bout to take place in the newly marketed territory, and it is also going to be home to an epic title fight pitting Canada’s favorite son, Georges St. Pierre as he looks to defend his welterweight title for a sixth time when he faces former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields.
Roberts recently divulged the information on his Twitter (@ninjaroberts), stating bluntly “I fight Claude Patrick at UFC 129 April 30th is in Toronto”.
With a potential victory over Claude, the Cesar Gracie protege will inch himself closer and closer to contender status should he come out successful over Patrick. In his most recent outing, Roberts submitted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt Greg Soto with a kimura inside of the first round. The loss was Soto’s first submission defeat in his career, and perhaps Cesar should probably now consider promoting his blue belt since Daniel has now submitted back-to-back opponents inside the octagon.
No surprise here that Patrick, a native of Toronto, will be the crowd favorite come fight time with “Ninja”. Claude is looking to build upon a two-fight win streak inside the octagon, having made his inception into the UFC in June of last year with a submission win over Ricardo Funch inside of the first round. In his last fight, Claude, though he dominated, won an uninspired decision victory over season eight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter”, James Wilks in the Brit’s own territory, London, England at UFC 120.
A victory here for either man will push them closer to a top contender status in a division that is dying for a new title contender, since St. Pierre has dispatched of virtually all valuable contenders.
So, MMA peeps, what do you make of the new match up? Who do you think pulls the victory here, in the UFC’s first venture in Toronto? Sound off in the comment section below.
