With the top of the UFC’s middleweight contendership ladder no longer a logjam due to losses from Tim Boetsch and Alan Belcher, it appears there is some room for a new name to slide into the discussion and few fighters are as poised to do so more than Francis Carmont. The 20-7 Frenchman has won all four of his appearances inside the Octagon and is on a nine-fight winning streak.
Now, with Montreal set to host a show on March 16 in the form of UFC 158, Carmont wants a chance to showcase his skills against a top opponent in front of his hometown fans.
“To start 2013, I’ll wish to make a good fight. Give me the opportunity to fight Munoz or Okami at UFC 158 in Montreal.”
