UFC middleweight Alan Belcher seemed destined to earn a crack at the divisional championship after looking sharp in a quartet of consecutive wins with each featuring some form of finish. However, the 28-year old came up short in his bid to make it five straight when he fell by way of decision to Yushin Okami at UFC 155.
Though disappointed with his performance, Belcher has vowed to use the “small setback” as a means of inspiring others by working through the adversity.
“I’ve had some pretty low moments, and, then again, some pretty supportive moments from fans, my family. Everyone came together and helped me realize my real purpose. Even though I lost the fight, I can inspire people – I think that’s my purpose in fighting.”
“I have a lot more wins to get in the UFC. This is a small setback but I will come back better.”
